[NBK] Kai USA Kitchen Knife Set Guide

The Low Budget Brand from the Company that Makes Kershaw Kai Housewares is sort of the lesser known dad of Shun cutlery and the step-dad of Kershaw knives. They have some nice enough kitchen sets, but nothing so fancy as their Shun line and nothing quite as cool as their Kershaw stuff. There are some ... Read more

[KnifeNews] Guy Poggetti’s New Boker Collab is a Front Flipper Tanto

French custom maker Guy Poggetti is working once again with Boker on a production piece. It’s called the Sanjo, and it should be a treat for anybody looking for something in the neo-Japanese style. As you may have guessed based on that “neo-Japanese” descriptor, the Sanjo features a tanto-style blade. All told, it follows quite […]

Dad loved knives. I’ll be posting more of his collection soon. Somehow, I think his favorite knife of all was the doctor’s knife. He had hundreds of knives- most of them very common, with a few quality knives thrown in. But he loved the doctor’s knife. He had three kids and two in-laws and 8 grand kids with two grand-in-laws -and at his funeral every one of us had one of his doctor’s knives in our pocket- with a couple to spare.

Sometimes I’m a little surprised Smoky Mountain Knife Works didn’t hear of his passing and send a sympathy card- with a catalog.

I've been collecting modern and tactical style folders and fixed blades for a good while but with the encouragement and great advice from the forums, I decided to get my feet wet with a few Traditionals!  I'm starting out on the inexpensive side so I can try them out and see what styles I like but I gotta say, so far I like them all!  Variety is the spice of knife collecting!

I'm sure most of you are familiar with these guys but here are my new Colt Black Stag Canoe, Rough Rider Copperhead in blue smooth bone, Marbles Ram Horn Canoe and Marbles Ram horn Stockman!  They all seem very well built and sharp right out of the box!  I'm pretty happy with these selections so far but I am anxious to add a couple top tier traditionals to my collection down the road!
