[NBK] CRKT Soldotna Review

It’s a lightweight hunting knife with a classic feel to it. The Soldatna design celebrates CRKT’s 30th anniversary. If someone had made me guess what kind of knife they would put out for such an occasion, I wouldn’t have thought of a hunting knife like this. But that’s part of CRKT’s charm. They find a ... My last knife was a kizer activ bantam and I really liked it.  Unfortunately I broke my never use a knife as a pry bar rule and snapped the tip off.  I intended to reshape it but then I used it to get rid of some unused wire in my freightliner.  There's another rule, only cut one wire at a time.  Bzzap!  Now it also has a pretty good divot burnt into the blade.
I attempted to buy another one and it was discontinued.  I ended up with a zero tolerance knife with a 4" blade.  It's a touch large for a pocket knife but I'm getting used to it.
After looking at bladehq's steel characteristics page I gave s35vn a try with the kizer and decided I like that steel, so my zero tolerance is made with the same steel.  I don't like tiny knives as I find them difficult to use with my big hands, so 3-4" is about right for me.
Hopefully, I'll not have a brain fart and abuse this one so it'll outlast me and my grandchildren.  Unless you work in a packing house it's nearly impossible to wear a knife out.

I have a gas forge and a coal forge. Most of what I make is art-type or tool-type stuff, but I have made a couple of knives. Just not good at it yet.

[NBK] Kitchen Perfection Chef’s Knife Review

A Comfy Take on an Outdoor Kiritsune I didn’t expect to like this knife. I shouldn’t have. There are so many red flags in its various vendor descriptions across the internet, but in practice it actually performs pretty well, and has some nice ergonomic touches. Specifications Overall Length: 12.25” Blade Length: 7.75” Blade Steel: High ... Read more
