I just got a new Buck 110 from their Custom Shop yesterday. Magnacut blade steel, and oak slabs. It only took 15 days from order date to the time it showed up in my mailbox.

A friend wanted to trade a knife for some work I did on an old German Hunting Dagger of his that needed repair. It's an Arno Bernard knife. I'm usually picky about ergonomics but am pleasantly surprised at how good this knife feels in my hand.
He Emailed me a couple of pictures ahead of time and here they are.

Edit.....Sorry about no pics before. I don't know what went wrong.

In I think my Dad’s first genuinely collectible knife was a Colt Swing Hunter. He dug it out of some dusty little hardware store where they didn’t know what it was and he bought it for a song.

[KnifeNews] Ostap Hel Designs Sencut’s First Neck Knife

Last week we covered the Real Steel Knives Astral, an Ostap Hel fixed blade with a tactical bent. Now we’re taking a look at the Sencut Texo, another Hel fixie, but in an entirely different size class. It has been a few years since the neck knife had its heyday. New neck knife releases aren’t […]

I want to get my granddaughter started right. (I also want to get my granddaughter started.) Several years ago I bought a Leatherman Leap. It’s a multi tool with a removable blade. The idea being that you can give it to a kid without the blade, and add the blade when they’re ready. I bought it before I had a specific kid in mind. My daughter-in-law doesn’t think my granddaughter is ready. Something about 2 years old being too young, or whatever.  Huh  Big Grin

Leatherman has recalled all of them, but I still have one. Not sure why, but something about the adding the blade, I think. Maybe when she’s ready she can have it without the blade.

Small game are… small. I never know which knife to carry. I don’t need 15 knives on my belt and, truth is, I probably won’t clean game until I get them home anyway. But I hate to leave a good knife behind.

There’s a small group that are my “first grab” choices, but the choices not pictured still call to me.

My dad had a thing about Doctor’s knives. I don’t know if he watched some old country Doc use one to mix medicine powders or count pills when he was a kid, or what. But they fascinated him. At his funeral, they wanted his family to all have a knife from his collection in their pocket- so I picked his Dr’s knives and everyone got one- 8 grandkids and 5 children/in-laws (my Mom just had her pink Victorinox Classic SD that he gave her). I still have some:

This Friday a summery new RoseCraft slipjoint will be available. It’s called the Tanasi Lake, and like other recent RoseCraft releases it’s a practical jack knife design. [NBK] Kitchen Perfection Chef’s Knife Review

A Comfy Take on an Outdoor Kiritsune I didn’t expect to like this knife. I shouldn’t have. There are so many red flags in its various vendor descriptions across the internet, but in practice it actually performs pretty well, and has some nice ergonomic touches. Specifications Overall Length: 12.25” Blade Length: 7.75” Blade Steel: High ... Read more

[NBK] CRKT Soldotna Review

It’s a lightweight hunting knife with a classic feel to it. The Soldatna design celebrates CRKT’s 30th anniversary. If someone had made me guess what kind of knife they would put out for such an occasion, I wouldn’t have thought of a hunting knife like this. But that’s part of CRKT’s charm. They find a ...
